Spade murder – suspect in court

A man appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of murder.

A 32-year-old man appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court earlier this week facing a charge of murder.

The man appeared on Monday, March 29 for the murder on Wednesday, March 17, at Extension 5 in Kwaguqa.

The victim’s mother alleged that she came from work when her neighbour reported to her that her son has stolen his wheelbarrow.

“The neighbour immediately took out a spade from his car and charged at the victim who in turn ran away. The neighbour who is now a suspect in this matter followed the victim. The victim’s mother followed them too,” said Captain Elizabeth Mkaudi spokesperson from Vosman SAPD.

Reports indicate that the mother found her son on the ground with an open wound on his upper body and blood gashing out.

He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment where he died the following day.

The suspect was arrested on March 25.

The Station Commander of Vosman Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu has called on the community not to allow emotions to supersede their thinking capacity because that may lead to unprecedented violence and death.
