Mourners bid farewell to Minister Jackson Mthembu

The funeral took place on Sunday, January 24 in eMalahleni.

The weather today in eMalahleni was a true indication of the sadness everyone felt with the passing of Minister Jackson Mthembu.

The funeral took place on Sunday, January 24 in eMalahleni. With rain pouring down, mourners gathered at Mr Mthembu’s house in

Ackerville where a prayer was said before the hearse and family members moved to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where the service was held.

Cries were heard from inside the house when the hearse drove off. A few members from the community gathered outside the church to pay their last respects. At the service, the programme directors were Minister Gwede Mantashe and MEC Lindiwe Mabona-Ntshalintshali.

President Cyril Ramaposa delivered the eulogy in church. After the service, led by Bishop Xolelo Khumalo the funeral procession moved out to the Pretoria Memorial Park Cemetry where the late Minister Mthembu was laid to rest.

On route to the cemetery community members did not mind the rain as they stood on the sidewalk and waited for the funeral procession to drive pass.

Minister Jackson Mthembu will be dearly missed in the community of Ackerville and eMalahleni
