Quick robbery, quicker arrest and SAPS success

One of the suspects pointed to the cashier with a firearm and demanded cash and cigarettes.

Swift reaction by Witbank Police members led to the arrests of two business robbers who robbed a convenience shop at a local garage.

On January 11 at 02:00 two suspects bought cigarettes at the counter outside the Engen Quick Shop in Watermeyer Street.

Because of the increase in business robberies the convenience shop was closed for security reasons.

One of the suspects pointed to the cashier with a firearm and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The suspects robbed the business from an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and fled the scene on foot.

Witbank SAPS was informed of the business robbery and immediately gave a lookout to all the vehicles for the two suspects and within 15 minutes after the robbery was committed the two suspects were arrested in Hans Strydom Avenue.

The members recovered all the cash and cigarettes that were robbed from the business.

Brigadier Sifuso Cele, the Station Commander of Witbank SAPS commended the members for their excellent response in making sure that these criminals stay behind bars where they can not terrorise the community of eMalahleni anymore.
