4-day old baby left alone

A four-day-old baby was taken to a safe place after being found abandoned in Ga-Nala.
Kriel Police Station opened a case of child neglect after a security guard found a four-day-old baby in a back yard in the Ga-Nala district on December 22.
The woman that found the baby stated that she came upon the baby in an abandoned back yard at the municipality. The police immediately took the baby to Thubelihle Clinic for medical assistance and the social worker were informed so the baby could be taken to a place of safety.
It was later on that same day that the police got information about the alleged mother of the baby, and the 25-year old was arrested.
She appeared in the Children’s Court on December 23 and again in the Magistrate’s Court on December 24.
