Woman united for the needy in eMalahleni

WITBANK NEWS earlier reported that this will be an ongoing project, they have an ever-growing need for donations.

It started with a request that was placed on social media for seamstresses to assist in the local movement to restore the dignity of local homeless or poverty-stricken woman, ‘The Dignity Bag Project’ that was launched in March of this year by the South African Community Crime Watch.

“Almost immediately we were flooded with calls and messages from a local woman willing to make colourful Tote bags for us. After about a week we started collecting the handmade bags from all over eMalahleni. You could immediately see the love put into making each bag, the detail and precision were just amazing,” said Maureen Scheepers founder of the project.

Local business owner Shirley Du Bruyn from Sublime Masterpiece surprised us with the most beautiful printed bags with scripture on each of them.

“She has donated a total of 100 bags,” an excited Scheepers explained.

WITBANK NEWS earlier reported that this will be an ongoing project, they have an ever-growing need for donations.

“For now we have enough bags, but we still need toiletries to fill up these beautiful local creations, Scheepers added

The dignity bag each consists of:1 x Roll-on
1 x Spray
1 x Small pack of pads
1 x Toothbrush
1 x Toothpaste
1 x Shampoo / Ethnic Hair products
1 x Bar of soap
1 x Nail clipper
1 x Wash cloth
1 x Body lotion
1 x Pack of wet wipe

Anyone willing to contribute with bag contents can contact Christell Oberholzer direct on 065 171 3080 for further arrangements.

“We would like to thank each and every one that donated a bag, these bags mean so much to the recipients and can be used long after the toiletries that we fill it with are finished. It’s wonderful to see the woman of our city coming together for a good cause,” she concluded.
