TUT students march to police station for help

The campus is alleged not to have opened and students want to exercise their right to education

Students of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) eMalahleni campus held a peaceful protest at the Witbank Police Station this morning.

WITBANK NEWS reported previously that during two groups protested outside the campus. One group was seeking equal allowances at student residences and the other protesting for the campus to open so they can continue with their studies.

The campus is alleged not to have opened and students want to exercise their right to education.

The group that wants to continue with their day to day campus activities marched to the police station to plead with the officers to help them with access to the campus.

Democratic Alliance Student Organisation TUT eMalahleni chairperson, Marcus Mudau, said: “We would like to get assistance from the police to help us go back to campus. It is our right to have access to education.”

The students were told to move away from the entrance of the station and they are now heading to the campus.
