Luckily police have video footage and is pulling out all the stops to catch the robbers

Automatic teller machine (ATM) bombers really have their sights on eMalahleni.

A third ATM was blown up on Thursday, November 28 at around 03:00.

This time it was a First National Bank ATM situated at the Engen Garage in Mathew Phosa Drive in Vosman.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, provincial police spokesperson, plus minus six males entered the convenient shop armed with assault rifles.

They bombed the drop safe inside the shop and the ATM.

Vosman Visible Policing arrived and the suspects opened fire.

“The suspects fled the scene on foot. An unknown amount of money was taken,” Brig Hlathi said.

Luckily police have video footage and is pulling out all the stops to catch the robbers.

“We are calling on the public to work closely with the police to curb this type of crime which is rearing its ugly head. We cannot allow a minority handful group of criminals who are terrorizing the banking sector by bombing ATM’s go unabated. Their actions are denying the faithful citizens to access their money closer and easy,” Brig Hlathi said.

On Tuesday, November 26 a robber was shot dead and another arrested during a foiled automatic teller machine (ATM) bombing in Tasbet Park.

On November 25 a lot of damage was caused inside a convenient store at the Caltex Garage in Ga-Nala when robbers blew a Capitec ATM and a dropsafe to pieces.

Brig Hlathi calls on anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.
