Waya Waya protest in Phola

This includes the grievances from the community and demands of having their dignity restored as well as their rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights

Members of the Waya Waya community movement took to the streets of Phola in a peaceful march to voice their concerns.

This took place on Tuesday, September 24 and Lucas Chippa Mtsweni had this to say:

“We would like to thank the residents of the Iraq Section (informal settlement) for showing up in numbers during the peaceful protest where a memorandum was handed over. This includes the grievances from the community and demands of having their dignity restored as well as their rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights. They give the provincial government seven working days to respond to the concern raised in the memorandum. A special thanks is expressed to the Mpumalanga representative for his availability in reviewing the memorandum. The time has come for voters to hold their politicians accountable.”
