Two cases of cattle theft have been reported at Kriel SAPS recently

Cattle are not safe in Ga-Nala.

Two cases of cattle theft have been reported at Kriel SAPS recently.

On March 26 Mr Werner Kleinhans from the farm Rietkuil discovered three of his cattle missing.

Police started an investigation and Sgt James Mthimunye alleged that cattle were recovered but two were already slaughtered near the farm.

The third was found wondering near the camp.

No arrest was made.

“We really need to arrest the suspects since the theft is still being investigated,” said Const Angel Makubu, police spokesperson.

On April 2 Mr Moses Ndlovu, also from Rietkuil farm reported a case of stock theft.

He told police his morning did not start well because when he woke up at 07:00 14 of his cattle were missing from the kraal.

It looks like suspects gained entry to the kraal by cutting through a fence.

Sgt James Mthimunye the investigating officer from stock theft said that through the good investigation all the cattle were recovered at Aangewys farms, Kriel.

Unfortunately there are no suspects.

The stock theft unit is pleading to all owners of life stock to mark their stock since the suspects are targeting all the life stock that are not brand marked.

Const Makubu said the community are buying stolen goods from suspects.

The police are doing an earnest appeal to the community to not buy anything suspected of been stolen.
