A 55-year old woman was arrested and appeared in court after an alleged assault on a three year old.

According to the SAPS the toddler’s mom picked him up from nursery school and he told her that the assistant in the class he was attending apparently hit his head against the wall and punched him on his head because he soiled his pants.

The little boy had a running stomach.

Ms Thandubuhle Xaba was furious when her son told her about the incident.

“On June 12 my son had a running stomach and he accidently messed in his pants. He was punched in the head and had his head hit against the wall by the assistant in the class in which he was in. On June 14 he messed in his pants again and had his head punched numerous times by the same assistant,” Xaba said.

The next day she went to the nursery school to confront them.

“The teacher said she’s equally shocked and suggested I should confront the assistant which is what I did and the assistant confessed to having done all that I’ve stated to my son. I also informed the principal who said I should come back to the school at 11:00 to meet with the owner. I did so and they informed me that their labour advised them to suspend her with immediate effect and charge her and her case will sit on June 25.”

Xaba said the assistant asked her to drop the charges against her.

“We can confirm that certain allegations were made regarding an incident involving an employee and a child. We further confirm that as soon as we came to hear of the allegations we immediately referred the matter to the Professional Legal Support Company (SEESA) for further investigation and we took all the necessary steps in this matter. Lastly we confirm that all the necessary investigations took place and a formal hearing will be done by SEESA. Our school has been a safe haven for many of children for many years and that would remain the position for many years to come,” was the response from the school.
