“We were coming back from Spar and saw the Mercedes following us. I thought it was my son, but we soon realised these were criminals. The vehicle stopped behind us, one of the three men ran to my husband’s window. He knocked for my husband to open the window with a gun in his hand. My husband did not open the window and we just saw bullets flying,” Mkhonza recalled.

She added that numerous shots were fired and the men kept telling her husband to open his window.

“There was one man in front of our car, one on my side and the other on my husband’s side. He tried to reverse but couldn’t. He tried to get away from all the bullets when he crashed into the wall of our yard,” Mkhonza continued.

The Mercedes suspected to be involved in the shooting in Holland Street on Saturday, April 14.

“I don’t know how many shots hit him. I just know it was a lot. I went to the mortuary this morning and they said the bullet in his artery in his neck, was the worst. I know some bullets passed us, but I had four shots in my right arm and my right leg was also hit,” Mkhonza said.
