eMalahleni received three days of constant rain and the roads in and around eMalahleni became waterlogged and many potholes were formed.
On Friday, March 23 at approximately 08:30 an accident occurred on the N4 highway just outside eMalahleni.

It’s alleged that the green Mercedes-Benz AMG was travelling on the highway from eMalahleni towards Pretoria; in the vehicle were two occupants.

In the opposite direction travelling towards eMalahleni was a white Hyundai Atos and there were four occupants inside the car.
It’s still unclear how the accident occurred, but it’s alleged that the driver of the AMG hit a water puddle on the highway and lost control of his vehicle.


The green Mercedes- Benz AMG that was involved in the accident on Friday, March 23; the driver later died in hospital.

He went across the island and went into oncoming traffic before colliding with the Atos, hitting the vehicle head on.
The driver of the AMG sustained serious head injuries and the passenger sustained serious injuries as well.

The driver of the AMG was transported to eMalahleni Private Hospital, where he was stabilized and later transferred to Muelmed Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.

The passenger of the vehicle was transported to Witbank Provincial Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained during the collision.

In the Atos the four occupants died on impact, their bodies were removed and were taken to Witbank Pathology Department.
Four of the three occupants in the Atos have been identified by family members.

Messrs Robson Ndlovu (47), Amogeleng Moela (39) and Seven Mathebula (51) were all identified by family members.
Ndlovu was a family man; he had a wife and five children. He owned his own driving school business.

“He was a very good man and he was dearly loved by everyone,” said Mr Nzingelwe Dube, Ndlovu’s cousin.

Ndlovu is originally from Zimbabwe and he was making a living in South Africa with his driving school.

“This Friday we will leave South Africa with his body and make our way back to Zimbabwe and hopefully we can bury him on Saturday,” said Dube.

Mr Juliot Bado, Mathebula’s brother said his brother was from Maputo and he was working in South Africa as a storeroom man.

“He was a very good man, he had a wife in South Africa and one in Mozambique and he had three children,” said Bado.

His funeral will be held in Mozambique but still not sure when the funeral will be as they need to travel 1300 kilometres back with the body.


The four occupants of this white car died on Friday, March 23 on the N4 highway.

Moela’s family was contacted for comment about when his funeral would be, but by the time the newspaper went to print they could not be reached.

On Saturday, March 24 another accident occurred on the Verena Road where a person died on scene.
At 07:00 Witbank Police Members received a call about an accident on the Verena Road.

Mr Joseph Napo was on scene and he spoke to the police officers. He alleged that the vehicle was his but he was not driving the vehicle.
Napo was sleeping in the car at the time of the accident, the driver of the vehicle was declared dead on scene.
