Three years later, a 16-year-old girl opens up about her rape

A 16-year-old girl, raped in 2015, opened up to her family three years later about the incident. The girl left home on 13 January 2015, accompanied by her uncle, to collect firewood.

When they got to the field, the suspect closed the girl’s mouth with tape, undressed and raped her. The 16-year-old was bleeding when she walked to her friend’s place where they gave her water to bathe.

The girl revealed the details of this incident when she visited her brother recently who pressured her to tell him about the ordeal. A case of rape has now been opened at the police station.

Another rape incident happened between Saturday, January 13 and Sunday, January 14. The case was opened at the police station by the 18-year-old’s older sister.

The girl was raped by a man at Old Coronation.

According to the victim, the suspect is unknown but she can point him out if she sees him again.

Witbank police spokesperson Capt Eddie Hall provided these hints:

Keep a whistle and blow it if you need help; Try and remember what the attacker looks like, his age, race, height, hair colour, scars, tattoos, clothes, voice, jewelry; Scream, yell, blow your whistle or run away if you possibly can; Do not bath or change your clothes after an attack, keep all the evidence so that it can be used by the police for further investigations; Report the crime to the police straight away; Report rape and help others to report it as well;

Remember that a sexual assault is not your fault.
