Cut- offs are being made

As another month approaches without any municipal accounts, residents of our city are stuck with their hands in their hair.

As another month approaches without any municipal accounts, residents of our city are stuck with their hands in their hair.

Last week, WITBANK NEWS reported that no ‘proper’ accounts have been received from the municipality since June.

Many accounts were sent out by the council, accompanied by a flood of complaints. Lately, cut-offs have started around town, and Mr Kingdom Mabuza, municipal spokesperson said that the cut-offs list is based on debtors that are older then 120 days.

“Those we cut off are in arrears because we reconcile our cash receipts on a daily basis.
On a very rare occasion when we get it wrong we encourage people to approach the municipality with proof of payment,” he said

“We again wish to make a special appeal to residents and businesses to pay for services and electricity. Unless we make the required payment of R387 million by 20 November, Eskom will cut our power.”
