Man busted with R18 000 worth of drugs

Kriel Police conducted a mini operation last week that yielded good results. It was through that operation that a man was arrested for being in possession of drugs worth R18 000.

On Wednesday, October 18 around 15:45 police were busy patrolling on the road to Thubelihle when they spotted a gold Nissan hard body with a GP registration number.


During a mini operation held at Ga-Nala, police found nyaope, dagga and money inside a vehicle. The arrest happened on Wednesday, October 18.

The officers on duty stopped the vehicle and requested to search it. Nyaope, dagga, rock and the money were hidden inside the vehicle.

The estimated value of both drugs was R18 000. The driver, aged 28 was arrested on scene for possession of drugs and dealing with drugs.

The man made his first appearance at the Kriel Magistrate Court on Thursday, October 19.

The case will resume once the court gets the forensic report to prove if it is indeed drugs.
