A meeting held last night to address the Eskom bill issue had positive outcomes.
The meeting called by local attorney, Mr Johan Coetzee on Thursday, October 4 was attended by several businessmen and role-players from the community.
Coetzee said he is going to represent the community in a high court application to try and stop Eskom from disrupting electricity to the community.
According to Coetzee having electricity is not a basic human right, but water, sanitation and education are human rights.
Therefore should Eskom flick the switch in November for eight hours a day the impact on water and sewerage will be devastating, depriving residents of this basic right.
Coetzee said using the constitution as a tool they will be able to ask for a mandatory intervention and ask the provincial and national government to intervene in the municipality.
They will also ask for the municipal council to be dissolved and a board of administrators to be appointed.
“We will insist that the community have an insight is all spheres during the implementation of a recovery plan,” Coetzee said
