Container café robbed

The increase of business robberies is climbing week after week.

The increase of business robberies is climbing week after week.

From big businesses to container tuck shops, there seems no end to the robbers and thieves.
On September 14 as dawn came upon eMalahleni the dark thoughts of criminals came along as four suspects hit a well known gas station which was undergoing construction work.

“You already know how many times robberies took place at this gas station but luckily this time’s hit was the smallest and no one got hurt emotionally or physically. As these premises are under construction we do not keep a huge amount of cash here,” said the owner on the scene. The South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) was dispatched to the scene and got SAPS on scene to take statements.

It was stated by the employee on duty that,

“A man came rushing into the container telling us that there are four men in a light blue vehicle busy planning a robbery. We reacted so quickly and got the large sum of money safe so they can not take it. We locked the container and went to sit in the other side of the container.”

The man that informed the cashiers about the planned robbery allegedly shouted to the suspects that they will not find a lot of cash and would be better if they come back another time.

“They got their way in through the window and pulled on the till shouting at each other, like in a way I would shout if I am fighting with someone. Eventually they did not manage to open the till and grabbed the whole till,” said the cashier.
