Midvaal Winter Classic chess tournament a huge success
Midvaal chess is growing slowly but surely
MEYERTON – On Saturday, July 13 the Midvaal Chess Club made history by hosting their first-ever chess tournament in the Meyerton Town Hall.
The tournament received 166 entries with 134 players participating on the day.
The chess club has partnered with the Midvaal Local Municipality to make this open-rated tournament an annual event.
The seven-round rapid tournament produced top-class chess. The winners of the different sections were: Section C: Ettienne van Meersbergen. Section D: Zandre van Deventer. Section E: Tshireletso Kalimashe. Section F: Kgosi Menyatsoe.
