VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Sedibeng u/12 baseball team recently proved that it is a force to be reckoned with after finishing third at the National Baseball Championships (NBC) in Port Elizabeth.
The team won 5 out of 6 games and finished top of the log with 10 points, closely followed by Gauteng A and Western Cape Boys A on 8 points.
The Vaaltonians advanced to the semi-finals where Western Cape Boys beat them by 7-4. Sedibeng was in devastating form in the playoff for third place, thrashing Gauteng A by 8-0. The final was an all-Western Cape Boys’ affair, with the A side coming out on top by 6-1.
“It is the first time a new team (Sedibeng u/12) competed at the NBC and finished third. We are extremely proud of the boys and this piece of history,” remarked Dave Lloyd, after his team’s great performance at the National Baseball Championships.
