The world is this youngster's oyster

PARYS. – Gerhardt van Niekerk (13) recently qualified to represent South Africa at the 30th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group competition in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and is now ranked 19th in the world for boys 13 to 14 years.
This Parys Primary scholar is a member of Parys 20 FOUR 7 Trampoline Club, where he is coached by proud mom Charmain van Niekerk.
The FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group competition is considered the most prestigious international event for the junior trampoline community.
The South African team left OR Tambo on November 12 and returned on November 21.
Gerhardt competed in the Double Mini trampoline category 13-14 and ranked 19th in the world.
This was Gerhardt’s first international competition.
“His high-performance coach and former African Champ, Star Mapeka, said that he is excited to see what 2024 will deliver for Gerhardt,” says proud mom Charmain. Gerhard will be competing in the upcoming Africa Championships that will be held in Tunisia in 2024.
