Murder investigation underway after body found in Meyerton

The identity of the deceased remains unknown.

MEYERTON – Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of an unknown male was discovered on Boskat Street in Valley Settlement, Meyerton, on April 25.

According to a statement issued by Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, a spokesperson for the Meyerton police, at approximately 9:45, Constable Mtshali was called to the scene after a local pedestrian, later identified as Mr. Mishack Rama Komro, reported the discovery of a lifeless body.

Komro, who was walking to work, initially thought the body might be that of a person who was intoxicated.

However, upon closer inspection, he noticed signs of violence, including blood stains and a wound on the back of the man’s skull.

The victim, described as an African male aged between 45 and 50, was found lying face down with visible injuries: a large laceration on his right cheek, a deep throat wound, and a significant skull injury.

He was wearing a green top, grey overalls, and black safety boots.

According to Zazini, the victim’s identity remains unknown, and it is believed he may have been killed elsewhere and dumped at the location.

Police are still working to determine the motive behind the murder.

Forensic experts from Gauteng Forensic Pathology Services, led by Sikhumbuzo Khoza, transported the body to the Sebokeng Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation.
