Meyerton’s ‘best burger’ revealed

The best burger in town has been found.

MEYERTON – Midvaal Community Radio recently set out on a quest to find the best burger in town and found it at Gecko’s Pub & Grub on the corner of Jim Fouche and Donald Road Riversdal.

The ‘Gecko’s Burger’, a humungous mouthwatering burger which consists of a juicy beef patty, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheese, onion rings and even crumbed mushrooms, took the prize.

The burger, which truly has it all, comes at a price of R110 but will definitely leave you satisfied.

The Gecko’s Burger was recently announced as the best burger in town.

According to station manager Donovan van Wyngaard, they received five entries that included Molly’s Speakeasy, Taste Budz, The Realm and the Cancun Spur in Meyerton.

Listeners also stood a chance to win R500 in cash if they predicted the best burger correctly.

Susan Human from Riversdal was the lucky winner of the R500, since she knew that the Gecko’s Burger is the best in town.

According to Van Wyngaard, the burgers were evaluated on the quality of the meat, the freshness and flavour of the bun, the toppings and sauces, the freshness of the vegetables, the appearance of the burger and presentation of the meal.

Van Wyngaard explains: “The above counted 50% and the other 50% was determined by votes by listeners. The competition ran for four weeks. Gecko’s burger came 2nd in the taste test, but won on amount of votes.”
