Hijacked company car recovered stripped near Wilberforce

"The three men were communicating in a foreign language that she could not understand."

EVATON.– A silver Renault Kiger that was hijacked along the Golden Highway recently was found stripped outside Wilberforce in Evaton last week.

According to Constable Thulisile Msibi, the complainant (a woman) was traveling in the company car along the Golden Highway when she stopped at a four-way stop near Graceland, Evaton West, to give way to two male pedestrians who were crossing the road. Suddenly, one of the men approached the left front passenger door and the other one came to the driver’s door.

Msibi said that they started to bang on the vehicle’s windows shouting at her to unlock the vehicle. She unlocked the doors and suddenly saw a third man. The three men forced her into the rear passenger seat, and told her to look down. According to Msibi, the three men then drove for about an hour before they dropped the victim off in Evaton North near a BP garage, where she managed to get assistance and was taken to the Evaton Police Station.

“The complainant stated that the three men were communicating in a foreign language that she could not understand, and she was unable to see if the suspects were armed since she was shocked and afraid to look at them,” said Msibi.

The vehicle was later recovered.
