One of the accused is the son of former Sedibeng District Commissioner, Major General Zodwa Molefe.

Two members of the Gauteng Highway Patrol in Midrand who appeared in the Springs Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping and extortion were granted bail to the amount of R5 000 each on Friday 16 August in the Regional Court.

The matter was postponed to 20 August.

Constable Thabiso Pule Molefe (31) and Constable Paseka Matena (33) were arrested on counts of kidnapping and extortion after allegedly kidnapping a man in Springs and demanding R2 million for his release.

The ransom was lowered to R150 000 and later to R20 000.
