A beacon of hope for Mkhelele community

“I’m here to encourage the youth of Mkhelele to wake up and dust themselves off."

EVATON. – Evaton West’s (Mkhelele) Sisanda Maphalala was recently voted as the finalist of the Queens with a Purpose Beauty Pageant.

The dark beauty would like to thank everyone who voted for her thus far and pleads for more votes on the last lap of the competition. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Maphalala said that she is still advocating for people with disabilities and for those who suffer from self-esteem.

“I’m here to encourage the youth of Mkhelele to wake up and dust themselves off. They need to realise that it starts with fantasizing, and then finally seeing yourself living your dreams.”

The purpose of the pageant is to give all kinds of women, married, widowed, single, and divorced, 20 to 50 years a chance to flourish and find their purpose in life by being the light in their communities through uplifting people living with disabilities. The final selection for the ‘Face of the Queens with Purpose’ will take place later this year, and Maphalala needs your votes to make the final cut.

“I, for one, was not even confident about this competition since it is my first-time doing pageantry. I had to remember that self-esteem has been my problem since high school but I had to look at someone who is disabled and I realised that if there is someone who suffers from a certain illness or was born without legs or hands, but still wakes up and live their lives as a king or queen, what is stopping me from taking a risk?”
