Illegal u-turn can cause an accident

"I am not sure what the solution to the problem would be but may be the traffic department could start issuing fines and the council could use this money to repair our pot- holes on the roads in Vanderbijlpark."

John Robertson, a resident of SE3 writes:
I have been a resident for many years in Vanderbijlpark and several weeks ago I starting jogging again on the road in the afternoons in the SE3 for some exercise.
I am sure you would be aware that as a runner, you for safety reasons always run towards the oncoming traffic.
My training route takes me along Frikkie Meyer Blvd past the entrance to the old caravan park entrance on my right- hand side travelling towards the exit road that leads out of the Emerald Casino.
Once I get just outside the main entrance to the Emerald Casino, I cut across through the middle island to join up at the bottom of the hill (Louis Trichardt blvd) which forms part of my training route.
The opening in the island is for single traffic lane only for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction from the bottom of Louis Trichardt to link up with Frikkie Meyer Blvd (the exit road coming out of the casino) On a few occasions lately, while I have been waiting in the island traffic lane for traffic to pass from my left to right (these cars are on their way to enter the casino), I have almost been bumped from behind by a few motor vehicles that have come out of the casino and done an illegal U-turn behind me taking a short cut in the wrong direction so as to join up with Louis Trichardt Blvd.
When you complain the drivers doing the illegal u-turns respond with foul language.
Not only is this illegal, but at some stage I am sure there is going to be a major accident between a vehicle doing an illegal u-turn coming out of the casino and a legal vehicle crossing from the bottom of Louis Trichardt onto Frikkie Meyer in the correct direction.
I am not sure what the solution to the problem would be but may be the traffic department could start issuing fines and the council could use this money to repair our pot- holes on the roads in Vanderbijlpark.
