Donation empowers Poppy’s Soup Kitchen

Thanks to this generous donation she is able to feed those in need.

MEYERTON. – “The Angel of Henley-on-Klip” will now be able to feed more hungry stomachs thanks to a generous donation by NJR Steel’s Meyerton branch.

The donation of about R2 500 enabled Alinah Ntswaki “Poppy” Khan to buy foods such as soup, soya mince, stock cubes, mealie meal, rice, samp, bread, juice concentrate, salt, baked beans, tomatoes and onions for her soup kitchen and feeding scheme, as well as chips and sweets for a street party that she had organised for needy children.

Poppy, who has commited her life to serving people in need and is affectionately known as “The Angel of Henley-on-Klip” in the community in which she operates.

She regularly feeds needy people in Meyerton and surrounds, but can’t do so without the help of the community and food sponsors.

On week days she visits the Meyerton CBD and taxi rank to feed empty stomachs. Sometimes she goes to the dumping site outside Henley-onKlip and other times she even goes out to Sebokeng to help those in need.

Anyone interested in helping Poppy feed the needy can contact her on 073 236 2730.
