Is the ELM in the Intensive Care Unit?

He highlighted that in terms of service delivery, the situation in Emfuleni remains critical.

SEDIBENG.- The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Sedibeng expressed their awareness of the visit by the outgoing President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to the ‘collapsed’ Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) through the stagnant and expensive District Development Model (DDM).

Isaac Khithika, the EFF Sedibeng Chairperson, emphasised their commitment to representing the truth and standing on the side of the people.

They announced their intention to conduct their oversight visit alongside the president to accurately portray the dire conditions within the collapsed municipality.

“We aim to inform the people of Gauteng and South Africa about the ANC government’s 29-year legacy that has transformed what was once a water station into a desert. Emfuleni is in ICU.

“Sewage continues to flood the streets of Small Farms (Evaton) and Sebokeng, and waste remains uncollected in Boitshepiville and various parts of Emfuleni,” Khithika stated.

He highlighted that in terms of service delivery, the situation in Emfuleni remains critical.

“Despite Section 139 and military intervention, there’s been no notable improvement. It’s no secret that the ANC government has failed the people of Emfuleni.

“The outgoing president’s visit is perceived as an attempt to bolster support amid the pending motions of no confidence and the anticipated defeat in the 2024 national and provincial elections.

“As things stand, not even the state president’s visit can derail the emerging shift.”
