SHARPEVILLE.- Despite a lack of resources Mpho Makae (17) defied the odds when he brought home both gold and silver medals in swimming from the OR Tambo Games held in Randburg on Saturday and Sunday.
This Elligwa Swimming Club promising swimmer went to these OR Tambo Games without proper training because the Sharpeville Swimming pool is not operating. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Elligwa Swimming Club’s, Tshepo Koatla who believes it was by God’s miracles that Makae managed to bring medals home.
Koatla said it is worrying that there is a swimming pool in the area but it is still not open. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that as Elligwa Swimming Club they do everything in their power to get sponsorship so that they can help fix this swimming pool for themselves.
