VANDERBIJLPARK – The Vanderbijlpark SAPS is searching for suspects who impersonated police officials and stole a man’s Hilux bakkie. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, said in a statement the incident occurred on September 18 at around 20:58, when the suspects pretended to be police officials investigating the victim. Makhale said the suspects told the victim to come with them by driving his vehicle to Sebokeng police station. The victim was confused as to why and did as he was instructed.

With their arrival outside the Sebokeng SAPS yard, the suspects claimed to be arresting the victim and politely took his Toyota Hilux bakkie keys. Makhale said the victim left immediately and then, looking back he saw the suspects driving up and down, but not entering the police station. He was also told he would receive a case number, but realised after two days he was scammed and opened a case at the police station. Makhale said the suspects are still at large and were driving a Kia Picanto.

She urged anyone who has seen these suspects or may know where they are to call the Vanderbijlpark SAPS on (016) 910-9012 or 083 791 0408 and ask for D\W\O Gerhard Vosloo.
