Weekend crime and successes – SAPD

A well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime. Such a well informed community are more alert and detour criminals.  The following weekend crime and crime trends were reported.

CRIME IN GENERAL

Business break-ins, theft of motor vehicle and theft out of motor vehicle has increased.

Housebreaking cases and business breaking

House break-ins has decreased and area such as Bophelong Ext.15, Joubert Street Mantevrede, CW1, CW5, CW6 and CE3 were affected by house break-ins.  Items such as plasma TV’s, amplifier, washing machine, DVD player, speakers, electrical tools, bicycles and couches were stolen.

Business breaking

School was affected again in Bophelong where tablet phones and a hoover machine were stolen.  Another business was broken into in SE7 where the computer screen and the amplifier was stolen.

Business robbery

Our CBD was affected by business robberies a clothing store was robbed by two (2) unknown suspects who were armed with firearms, stole cash, cell hones and clothes. Suspect threaten the victims not to call the police or get any assistance as he will kill them all and himself as he is not intending to go back to prison.  Criminals always say things that will make the victim not to look for help or press any panic button to get away with crime. Second incident happened in Van Rhijn Street in the CBD where the business was robbed two (2) laptops and cell phones.  Suspects were in possession of firearms suspects used the modus operandi of pretending to come firstly and asked for a carjack from the owner to just check for the atmosphere as the shop does not sell any vehicle parts and how did they know he has a car.  After some few minutes suspects came back for the second time robbed the store.

Attempted murder

We had two attempted murders over this weekend one in Mosaka Street Bophelong where victims car was shot several times, by two unknown suspects no one was injured in this incident.  Second incident happened in SW1 where the victim was ran over by a unknown white male.  Suspect was taking the victim photos when the victim asked the suspect, the suspect ran over the victim, the suspect was driving a white VW Polo.

Robbery aggravating

Happened in General Froneman Street SE7 where the victim was walking alone in street when a grey BMW stopped with three (3) unknown male occupants, one suspect produced a firearm and ordered the victim to give him his cell phone, suspects drove away with the victim’s phone.  2nd  incident happened near the victim’s residential place when two suspects pretended to be asking for cigarette victim told them he does not smoke when one suspects grabbed his phone, took out his knife and chased the victim stabbed the victim before entering his residential place.

Theft of motor vehicle

Toyota Hi-Ace was stolen in Bophelong Ext.11, Toyota Stallion stolen in the CBD and a Toyota Tazz stolen in CW6 over the weekend.  It looks like the Toyota was on the market over this weekend.

Several cars were broken into over this weekend where a sub-woofer,  amplifier, perfumes and LED light were stolen from the motor vehicles.

General

A cell phone was grabbed from the victim while he was talking on the cell phone while waiting  at the stop sign a suspect ran off.

SUCCESSES

The Vanderbijlpark SAPS managed to arrest a total of 17 people over the weekend for various crimes.   3 illegal shebeens were closed, 6 people were arrested for driving under the influence and  0 people arrested for drugs. – (Sgt. Gertrude Makhale, Communication Officer, Vanderbijlpark SAPS.)
