SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has expressed its enthusiasm for the near-completion of the K174 Interchange, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing the development of the Vaal River City as planned. The municipality emphasised that the progress made on the K174 Interchange signifies a significant step forward in unlocking the long-awaited potential of the Vaal River City. This progress instils confidence among investors who have pledged to contribute to the growth and development of both the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and the broader Sedibeng region. According to the municipality, the ongoing construction work on the R42 is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) to foster investment opportunities and stimulate economic growth. The municipality said that it is pleased to note the near-completion stage of the Interchange, underscoring the continued momentum toward the realisation of the Vaal River City project. It further said that the ultimate goal is to establish Emfuleni as a prominent Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
While acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the partial closure of the R42 near Bedworthpark due to construction activities, the municipality reassures affected motorists that their concerns have been noted. Motorists are urged to exercise patience when navigating the construction zone or consider utilising alternative routes to reach their destinations efficiently. This proactive communication aims to minimise disruptions and ensure the safety and convenience of all road users during this period of infrastructure development.
