“A well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime.  Such a well-informed community is more alert and detour criminals”, says Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, Communication Officer of the SAPD in Vanderbijlpark.

According to Gertrude crime is showing a decrease, but only the assaults and theft of motor vehicle are still a problem. There was a decrease in housebreaking cases and increase in business break-ins the past week. Cash, cigarettes and technology items such as laptops and TV’s are still the sought after items for robbers. Common Robbery is still a problem and victims are disabled or surprised and then robbed of cash, jewelry, cell phones and other belongings

Theft of motor vehicles has increased and a Toyota Hilux, red and white VW Microbus, a gray Toyota Corolla, a cream white Toyota Corolla, a metallic gray VW Polo and a maroon Mazda Midge was stolen.  The affected areas were CE1, CE6, NW7, SE4 and SW5.
