VANDERBIJLPARK. – Moroka Swallows are through to the next round of the Nedbank Cup after beating Platinum City Rovers on Saturday, February 24 by 3-1 on penalties in front of a packed VUT Isak Steyl Stadium.
The scores were level 0-0 after overtime. The Swallows were slow out of the blocks but gradually got into their stride, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Rovers played well and had a lot of chances but did not convert. Swallows almost clinched the victory at the death of the second half but the lefthand bar denied the Swallows.
Three misses in the penalty shootout proved to be the decisive factor of the match as the Dube Birds advanced to the next phase of the competition.
