SuperSport United coach Cavin Johnson is in need of a quick solution to fix his side’s lacklustre form which has seen them lose back-to-back matches.

United lost a chance to move to the top of the table on Tuesday following a 2-1 league defeat to Ajax Cape Town at Lucas Moripe Stadium. That defeat was their second in three days after losing to Orlando Pirates in a Telkom Knockout semifinal at the weekend.

Johnson is aware that if the side still harbour any ambitions of winning the league title, they will need a big improvement.

“When you’re not able to play with 11 committed players, then there’s a problem,” Johnson said.

“And when you’re not able to play with 11 players who don’t use the correct technique, you have a problem again. I have a big problem with my team and I have to fix it … that’s what I’m employed for.”

Johnson’s major concern is the manner in which the side are conceding goals and that he will need to focus on that department before their next match against Bidvest Wits on December 10.

“We are not No 3 in the League for nothing,” he said. “We worked hard to be there and it’s important to show whoever is below you that you will fight for the points.

“Ajax could have scored more goals and for me we didn’t fight enough, we gave in to them. While we had to dig deep.”

Meanwhile, Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral says he never doubted his young side and believes that they are on the right track.

“The team performed really well and they played great football and that’s what I’m very thankful about,” Ertugral said.

“I have coached on three continents. I have seen some really high standard international teams. I know what has been going on in our training sessions and these youngsters are very impressive.”
