AmaZulu look to ‘add insult to injury’

AmaZulu are eager to inflict more misery on a Mamelodi Sundowns team reeling from their Telkom Knockout exit at the weekend, when the two sides meet at Loftus Verfeld in a league match tonight.

Downs went down 2-1 to Platinum Stars in their Telkom quarterfinal and will be looking to bounce back against a confident Usuthu in the top-of-the-table clash.

Downs and AmaZulu currently share the top of the log with Moroka Swallows on 11 points each, and a victory for either side will see them move ahead, depending on the result between Swallows and Bloemfontein Celtic in tonight’s other match.

A win against Celtic for Swallows would see them move up the table if Downs and AmaZulu drop points, but Usuthu captain Tapuwa Kapini, left, admitted that it will be tough as Downs will be desperate not to lose two matches in succession.

“It will be tough for us. They are coming into this match angry and desperate to bounce back.”

In other fixtures tonight, Celtic meet Swallows at Free State Stadium and Platinum Stars take on Black Aces at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Kick-off at 7.30pm.
