Tawana Resources, which last month received approvals for exploration work at its Mofe Creek iron ore project in Liberia, announced on Friday it had appointed Michael Bohm as an independent non-executive director as of August 1.

The Australia-based company with a secondary listing on the JSE said in a statement that Bohm, a mining engineer, had experience in the minerals industry in Australia, South East Asia, Africa, Chile, Canada and Europe and the UK. Tawana executive chairman and chief executive Wayne Richards noted his “extensive corporate and project development skills … with the particular emphasis of continuing to add value to the Mofe Creek iron ore project”.

The company also said that Len Kolff would be stepping down from the board to pursue other career opportunities. Richards noted Kolff’s “tremendous contribution” including “his instrumental role in the discovery of the Mofe Creek iron ore project from a greenfields prospect”.
