A strike that was looming in the public service sector, has been averted.

This comes after the public service unions, through millions of public servants reached a three year wage agreement with the employer (Govrnment) at the final day for conciliation on Tuesday. “I can confirm that indeed we have reached an agreement with the employer, and the deal entails among other a 7% wage increase, as well as R1 200 for housing allowance.

“By Tuesday night, five unions had already signed and agreed to the deal,” Nkosinathi Mabhida, speaking on behalf of Cosatu public service unions told The Citizen.
