UPDATE: Proteas in control against West Indies
Their 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup campaign took a bit of a knock after a heavy defeat at the hands of India last weekend but South Africa have been provided with an opportunity to bounce back against familiar foes.
In the build-up to the showpiece the two sides met in a one day international series with hosts, South Africa, securing a comfortable 4-1 series win.
Injuries have forced the Proteas to make a couple of changes with Kyle Abbott brought into the side to replace Vernon Philander after the fast bowler pulled up with a hamstring strain in the match against India.
Middle-order batsman JP DUminy failed to recover from a side strain in time for the match and has been replaced by Rilee Rossouw while Farhaan Behardien has been included in the team at the expense of Wayne Parnell.
Proteas XI: Amla, De Kock, Du Plessis, Rossouw, De Villiers, Miller, Behardien, Steyn, Abbott, Morkel, Tahir
West Indies XI: Gayle, Smith, Samuels, Ramdin, Simmons, Carter, Sammy, Russell, Holder, Taylor, Benn.
