Polokwane City have retained their spot in the Premiership after playing to a 2-1 victory over Black Leopards yesterday at the Giyani Stadium.

Rise and Shine went into the encounter with a one point cushion over Leopards and managed to wrap up what has been a turbulent season for them.

Sipho Jembula headed home after just two minutes of play before Vukile Mngqibisa scored from the penalty spot in the 27th minute after a foul on Jembula.

Luck was merely absent for Lidoda Duvha and Kosta Papic’s men will be kicking themselves for hitting the woodwork four times.

City banked on their water-tight defence that saw the team concede just a single goal throughout the playoffs.

Leopards though, came out after the break and started attacking right away. Siphelele Ntshangase found the back of the net in the 79th minute to give the home side some hope of making a return to the top tier.

But Rise and Shine remained resolute to keep their place in the Premiership. City’s shot-stopper Modiri Marumo continued to produce saves until the dying minutes of the encounter to ensure that they live to see another day in the PSL.
