Fifteen injured in taxi collision in Pietermaritzburg

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07:45, they found two taxis obstructing the one lane.

Fifteen people, including children, sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate after two taxis collided on French road in Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg Monday morning, ER24 paramedics said.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07H45, they found two taxis obstructing the one lane,” ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said.

“A number of patients were sitting on the pavement next to the road. Upon further assessment, paramedics found that fifteen people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.”

Van Huyssteen said the patients were transported to hospital for further medical care with assistance from other medical services.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known but police were investigating, van Huyssteen said.
