Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane believes fighting to survive relegation motivates Maritzburg United to win.

Aces will host relegation-bound United in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday afternoon.

“For a team that’s fighting for relegation, Maritzburg United will want to win every game to keep the momentum going,”  Mabokgwane told the PSL website.

The Team of Choice has struggled to produce positive results in the early stages of the season, something that has left them fighting  relegation.

Aces on the other hand have had an impressive run, challenging for the league title in the first half of the season and being in line for a top eight finish.

“We’ve come together and spoken about it over the last couple of days, and we need to relieve the pressure off him [Collins Mbesuma],” he explained. “We need to show that he is not the only man to get goals for us, and everyone around the park needs to chip in with goals.”
