New literary festival in Parkview

The initial idea for the festival came about because it was noticed that the suburb is home to an unusually high number of prominent writers (authors, journalists, academics and others).

The event has been organised by the Parkview Residents’ Association (PRA) and book fans can attend any number of the 20 discussions on topics as wide-ranging as politics, journalism, fiction writing, travel, business and food.

The compact nature of the event – everything is within easy walking distance – makes bringing children to the festival an option and a full kids’ programme will run at the Parkview Library throughout the day.

All the discussions are open to the public (first come, first seated) and last around an hour, including Q&A sessions with the panels. Participating writers include Anton Harber, Justice Malala, Nechama Brodie, Jonny Steinberg, Michele Magwood, Ray Hartley, Antony Altbeker, Tim Couzens, Peter Bruce,  Denis Becket, Hamilton Wende,  Jenny Crwys-Williams, Joanne Richards, Kate Sidley and  Thurlow Hanson- Moore.

Tyrone Avenue will be closed between Ennis and Athlone Roads between 10am and 5pm.
