The Springs Art Gallery will host the uMsizi noPende group art exhibition from March 26.

The Springs Art Gallery will host the uMsizi noPende group art exhibition from March 26.
“The exhibition features original work, which resulted from a workshop series designed to provide professional development for local artists presented by Isthuli Sasengweni Arts & Crafts Organisation.
“Umsizi noPende Art Project is a supportive network and exchange programme for young artists to gain experience regarding their own artistic practice, with a focus on visual arts,” explained Thabo Sekoaila, curator of visual arts at the gallery.
The workshop took place from March 2 to 4 at Emthonjeni Daycare Centre in Tsakani.
A team of professional artists jointly mentored 10 emerging artists from in and around Ekurhuleni during the skills sharing workshop.
The exhibition will be curated by Mlamuli Zulu, a contemporary visual artist and the 2017 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards winner.

“The emphasis of this show is to promote new talent and profile the Springs Art Gallery as an art resource centre.
“The gallery aims to raise public awareness of emerging visual artists by providing exhibition space and opportunity to meet artists and see their work physically and on an online platform.
“The exhibition is part of the gallery’s experimental solo and group series project idea,” he said.
The opening event on March 26 will include live music and a presentation to recognise the artists for their amazing artistic accomplishments.
Sekoaila said three of the artists with the most impressive work will be announced on the occasion of the official opening of the group exhibition.
The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 16:00 for public viewing.
