Local artist needs your votes

Hip-hop artist Keegan Faray, who goes by the stage name Real Keno, has been nominated for his first major award.
Real Keno has been nominated in the Best Newcomer of the Year category at the 011 Awards.
The former Springs Secondary School learner said he uses music to tell stories.
“It’s not all just for fun. I use my music to inspire and advise people,” he said.
The artist said working on his music during lockdown was a different experience for him as he is a very social person.

“When I’m in the zone, I prefer to work in a studio and feed off the energy of people.
“I work well under pressure and pride myself on being original.
“I prefer not to look at other artists and what they’re doing because it distracts you,” he said.
He explained the process of making a song is faster now, compared to when he first started as it used to take him two days to make a song.
For his EP, the artist worked with Gabriel Nielsen after connecting with him through Instagram.
At 22 years old, the artist feels he’s at the right stage of his career to explore different sounds and find himself as an artist.

He also wants to work with other artists and has formed his record label, which already has three artists signed to it.
The music that he has put out so far has been met with a great response from the fans, and the nomination has proven to him that he is on the right track.
“Being nominated for this award is a big boost for me.
“It’s going to give me a bigger platform and push me to do more with my career,” said Real Keno.
For Real Keno to win the award, he needs fans to vote for him.

“I would appreciate it if the community of Springs voted for me,” he added.
