Hijacked vehicle recovered

Tsakani – Two suspects were arrested on Saturday by the Ekurhuleni District Trio Task Team on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and a hijacked vehicle.

The duo, aged 31 and 35, was arrested at an address along Duba Street. Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said the team, under the command of Col Alistair Subramanian, acted on a tip-off about the hijacked vehicle which was in a garage at the address.

“On arrival, police found one suspect (31) and upon searching the garage, a vehicle which was hijacked in Yeoville in July was found.
“An unlicensed firearm was found in the vehicle and ammunition which was stolen in Boksburg in May was also found.
“The suspect alleged the vehicle was dropped off by his friend (35) and police went to his home and brought him to the scene,” said Mngomezulu.

Mngomezulu added they also unearthed five rifles and ammunition of different types, six keys for different vehicles
and four firearm magazines.
