Four suspects arrested for rape

Kwa-Thema – Four rape suspects, aged between 26 and 51, were recently arrested in separate incidents. Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Sgt Media Khoza said the suspects will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon. The first incident occurred on September 17 when a 46-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the Ekuthuleni informal settlement.

“The man allegedly locked up the victim in their home so she could not go to school. “During the course of the day, he instructed her to clean the house. “While cleaning, the suspect forcefully undressed the victim and raped her. “On the same day, a 51-year-old man was arrested for raping and kidnapping a 21-year-old mentally challenged woman in Vergenoeg. “It is alleged the suspect forced the woman into his home and raped her. “She was later found by her mother with the help of neighbours,” said Khoza.

Police hunt for rape suspect

Khoza explained two further incidents occurred last Saturday, the first of which saw the arrest of a 26-year-old for allegedly raping his sister (16) in Extension Two. “He allegedly attacked his unsuspecting sister while she was asleep and raped her. “On the same day, a 30-year-old suspect was also arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in Ext Four,” said Khoza. Khoza added police strongly condemn these acts of abuse against women and children, especially at the hands of those who are supposed to protect them. “We will work around the clock to ensure perpetrators face the full might of the law and justice is served,” she said.
