Award nomination for Tsakani journalist

Local journalist needs your support

Tsakani – Arthur Msibi has been nominated in the Best Journalist category at the Mzansi Youth Entertainment Awards.

The talented 24-year-old, who is a journalist and news anchor at EKFM, was born and bred in Daveyton but resides in Tsakani.

“As a child I used to watch news and would read newspapers with my family.

“I became fascinated with current affairs.

“Oral presentations and public speaking in high school, helped me locate my purpose within the media space.

“I enjoyed being in front of my peers, educating or informing them about the topics given by the educators,” he said.

Msibi graduated from IIE Rosebank College and is also a freelance content producer for Opera News.

One of the most memorable stories he has covered was a donation to a soup kitchen in Daveyton.

Arthur Msibi is honoured to have been nominated.

“I recall seeing hope and happiness in the faces of those children and from there I understood what it meant for them.

“The soup kitchen had received donations from a local church in Daveyton to cater for primary school learners to ensure no learner would travel to and from school on an empty stomach.

“I had an opportunity to witness their happiness when queuing to get a meal,” explained Msibi.

The Mzansi Youth Entertainment Awards are aimed at showing appreciation to the youth of South Africa who contribute to the community and local media sphere.
