• December 5 to 24: Santa’s Grotto in the Woolworth’s court. Free entertainment for the children, Santa with his reindeer and Nonstikelelo in a ginger bread house.

• December 12 to 24: Elf’s workshop in the food court offering free arts and crafts for the children.

• December 14 to 24: Father Christmas will be in the Game court posing for photos with children.

• December 14 to 16: Christmas market.

• December 20: Christmas carols in the Woolworth’s court from 7pm. Free to the public.

• Cenestra Male Choir will be presenting Christmas carols. This is classic performance directed by Themba Madlopha and will take place at St Peter & St Paul Anglican Church, 10 1st Avenue Springs at 2pm. Every Saturday

• The South African Sea Cadets meets every Saturday at Training Ship Springs on Colliery Road, Lodeyko, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Boys and girls ages 11 to 18 are invited to join them to learn about maritime and naval skills and enjoy camaraderie. Contact Lt Commander Chris Hand on 076 226 6646.

• Consider yourself a word fundi? Need to test your Scrabble skills against new people? The Benoni Scrabble Club competition to be held at the All Souls Anglican Church Hall may be for you. There will be a social competition for all new players and beginners. Players will play eight games and the competition begins at 8am. Each game is approximately 50 minutes, with each player allocated 25 minutes. Games are timed using chess clocks. There is an entry fee which includes refreshments throughout the day.
