• The Friends of the Marivale Nature Reserve will have a stargazing evening at the picnic area in the reserve. The evening will be guided by well-known astronomer Andrew Helstone. On the same day at 4pm, there will be a guided tour by Stan Madden, which will be followed by a bring-and-braai. Fires will be provided at the picnic area. Bring your own chair and lantern. • The Senior Citizens Centre will hold a fête at 1A Seventh Street North, just off First Avenue in the CBD. Come and enjoy fun, laughter and great food. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

• Strubenvale Church on the corner of Marks and Moffat streets in Strubenvale, is hosting a spitbraai event from 10am. Stalls will be available (bookings available), pic-a-box and line dancing will be preformed. Mac Young; and Sergio & Lizzie will be perfoming . • Hospice East Rand Charity Golf Day to be held at ERPM Golf Club, 85 Pretoria Road, Boksburg West. Tee-off time from 11am. The competition will be a betterball Stableford.
