• The Friends of the Marivale Nature Reserve will have a stargazing evening at the picnic area in the reserve. The evening will be guided by well-known astronomer Andrew Helstone. On the same day at 4pm, there will be a guided tour by Stan Madden, which will be followed by a bring-and-braai. Fires will be provided at the picnic area. Bring your own chair and lantern. 26 May

•The ever-popular FATIMA FEAST takes place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Derby Avenue,

Springs Extension at 12.30 pm.  Enjoy delicious Portuguese Chicken, Prego rolls and Espetadas.

June 1

• The Senior Citizens Centre will hold a fête at 1A Seventh Street North, just off First Avenue in the CBD. Come and enjoy fun, laughter and great food. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

• Strubenvale Church on the corner of Marks and Moffat streets in Strubenvale, is hosting a spitbraai event from 10am. Stalls will be available (bookings available), pic-a-box and line dancing will be preformed. Mac Young; and Sergio & Lizzie will be perfoming . • Senior Citizens Lunch at 12noon at SpringsCare. Booking is essential and must be confirmed by Thursday no later than 2pm. The centre is located at 1A Seventh Street North, just off First Avenue in the CBD. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

Bank Penioners Society – Financial Institutions Pensioners Society (BPS-FIPS) get together will be held in the main hall of Rynpark 7, Struben Street, Rynfield Benoni. The meeting will start at 11am and there will be a bring and braai. Contact Unice Horn on 082 468 7285.

• Hospice East Rand Charity Golf Day to be held at ERPM Golf Club, 85 Pretoria Road, Boksburg West. Tee-off time from 11am. The competition will be a betterball Stableford. The price for a four-ball is R1 800 and dinner and prize-giving. Holes can be sponsored at R1 500, putting green sponsorship costs R2 500, hole 1, 9 and 18 sponsorship is R2 500 each. Every first Wednesday of the month

•Bokkie park food and craft market alongside the Caxton car boot sale at the Bokkie Park, Southvale Road, Parkdene, Boksburg. The event will start at 8am until 2.30pm. Over 80 food and craft stalls, children’s activities, up to 40 car boot stalls, live entertainment, tea garden.
